The first local standard for zippers in China was formulated by Yiwu

Yiwu, which has the “Chinese zipper industry base” gold label, produced yesterday the first local industry standard of the national zipper industry—the standard of Yiwu zipper industry alliance. It will soon be released and implemented in hundreds of zipper companies in Yiwu. It means that the quality of the zipper industry in Yiwu will have an overall improvement.

Since 2003, China has become a global leader in zipper manufacturing. Currently, the global “Made in China” zipper is as high as 90%. In China's zipper manufacturing industry, Yiwu has a pivotal position. Yiwu currently has more than 300 zipper manufacturers, with annual production of more than 10 billion meters of zippers. At the same time, Yiwu is still the world's largest zipper product trading center, and 80% of the national zipper manufacturers have set up a sales window in Yiwu. Yiwu zipper industry's production and sales have ranked first in all regions of the country.

Wu Xinxi, secretary general of the Yiwu Zipper Industry Association, said that because there was no standard to guide the production and trade in line with the status quo, the overall improvement of product quality in the zipper industry in Yiwu was hindered. In the newly-developed Yiwu zipper league standard, the ambiguous issues such as the zipper size have been solved and the new standard has established a complete database for it.

Wu Xinxi told the reporter that many domestic experts have verified that the zipper industry alliance standard developed by Yiwu exceeds the existing national standards of the zipper industry and has been in line with international standards. Some of the contents even exceed the international level. He introduced that the Yiwu zipper league standard comprehensively adopted the advanced metrics and requirements of the German DIN zipper standard, the British BS zipper standard and Other zipper standards in various countries and regions, and made environmental protection, ecology, and safety the focus of standard setting, and would be more prevalent in Europe. Environmental protection and ecological certification standards are included in this standard.
